Screen Size and Resolution
Use of Evaluate requires a computer or tablet with at least a 10 inch screen, and resolution of 1024 x 768 or larger.
Firewall, Content and Spam Filters
Firewalls, content, and spam filters must be set to allow access to Evaluate™ domains. Evaluate™ should be set for “do not cache” if the school or district uses a caching server. The following ports must be opened in any firewalls, proxy servers, or software that is used for internet content filtering:
- ports 80, 443 to catapultevaluate.com, *.catapultevaluate.com
- ports 80, 443 to *.speechstream.net
- ports 80, 443 to *.texthelp.com
- port 22 to data.catapultevaluate.com (only needed if NOT using Clever for SIS data transfer)
Headphones
Headphones/earphones/earbuds will be required for students who need them for text to speech.
Network Performance
Evaluate will require adequate Internet connectivity for all students and staff to access the system. The average size of the content delivered and the overhead of the application for processing and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption requires approximately 10Kbps per connection. To calculate the amount of bandwidth required, use the following formula:
Bandwidth required = (Number of simultaneous users) X 10Kbps, if 30 students in a lab this would require 300 Kbps when using Evaluate.
Wireless Classroom Recommendations
In a small to medium size classroom with up to 15 laptops, it is our recommendation to deploy a single wireless access point.
For larger classrooms of up to 30 laptops, our recommendation is to add a second access point that is configured to balance the load of the laptops. Laptops should not be configured to connect to other wireless networks as this may have unpredictable outcomes.
